Cicada Princess is a short film based on a children's book by the same title, both written and produced by Mauricio Baiocchi (Mauchi) with illustrations and character designs by Steve Ferrera.
Through miniatures and puppets, we follow the lives of the Cicadas emerging from the ground where they have been waiting as grubs for sixteen years. The Cicadas gather for the grand ball at the castle, knowing that when the sun rises their lives will come to an end.
I found out about this project via Kickstarter. It has reached its goal and all we have to do now is wait till it comes out!
