I've been really obsessed this autumn with all the beautiful colors. Maybe it's because I recently quit my job, so now I'm outside more often. Or maybe it's because I'm getting older and really discover more and more to find the beauty in the everyday things. But after a long forrest walk I love to sort my gatherings, like I did here. And when I did I posted the photo on my Instagram (follow!) and someone commented. If I knew Herman de Vries? No I didn't. But I searched him up and it's awesome. He's like the godfather of all nature collections, he has done A LOT.
herman de vries is a Dutch artist. He writes his name in lower-case "to avoid hierarchy". de vries started painting in the late 1950s. He categorises these paintings as 'informal'. Using no figuration or color, the paintings are his first steps towards randomness as a principle of order. This principle aims to achieve absolute objectivity, and has had a central role throughout his artistic career. Later, his concern for the (disrupted) relation between humanity and nature takes a leading role in his work. So nice! He has lots of exhibitions worldwide, so check out if one's close to you.
*The post title is from this Billie Holiday song. I love to play her music during my sortings/nights at home.
