A good pair of heels can spice up any outfit. But not everybody can walk in heels. But I think we agree heels can be a piece of art, if well worn and designed. One of my favourite designers, Winde Rienstra, conquers the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Rienstra is a talented Dutch fashion designer, whom's show you might have seen on the U/D Instagram when I visited her last show at Fashion Week. Dreamy designs made from natural fabrics. The shoe designs by Winde Rienstra are the result of extensive research material and form. The material properties are fully used and the shapes are a logical consequence of the construction and the used technique. The shoes eyes futuristic and nostalgic at the same time. They are timeless statements and offer within the craziness of the fashion world a pleasant sincerity. And I love them! The special shoes designs of Winde Rienstra will be displayed during the exhibition: Killer Heels: The Art of The High-Heeled Shoe in NYC!
Through more than 160 artfully-crafted historical and contemporary high heels from the seventeenth century through the present, the exhibition examines the mystique and transformative power of the elevated shoe and its varied connections to fantasy, power, and identity. Rienstra's shoes will be exposed between designs by designers and fashion houses like Manolo Blahnik, Chanel, Tom Ford, Zaha Hadid, Pierre Hardy, Iris van Herpen, Nicholas Kirkwood, Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen and Prada. Must visit if you're in Booklyn this fall!
